Question
Hello, I am using CS3 Illustrator, When I open a piece of art work, sometimes the swatches pallet has no swatches in the menu. What is my recourse Please help

Answer
Hi Don,

There are two reasons you have limited or no swatches when you open a document.

1. The file was not created using Illustrator or if it was, the creator removed the swatches.

or

2. You are opening a raster file, such as a tif or jpg which has no embedded swatches.

This is pretty common and not an error. If you need the default swatches, you will have to load them in using the load swatch library menu option and selecting default RGB or CMYK.

Thanks
