Adobe Illustrator/illustrator 10 swatch library drop down disappeared

Question
QUESTION: hi Kevin, noticed that Amy had this problem sometime back. Out of the blue my
swatch library drop down does not work.

Got any ideas of what could have happened and how to get it back?

ANSWER: Hi Bluzette,

Im never really sure how people get this to disappear, but most times it has to do with a break between AI and the resources. Check to make sure the libraries are actually in the actually in the Adobe Illustrator 10.0.3/presets/swatches folder.

Then reset your preferences in your home folder's library and try again. (Hold opt/alt+ctrl+cmd upon startup).

That should reset things.

Thanks

Kevin

QUESTION: hey Kevin,
tried it but unfortunately no luck. Any other suggestions?

ANSWER: Hi Bluzette,

I have forwarded your issue onto Adobe to see if they have any suggestions. I have never seen this personally, so Im just going off of what you have described. So in your swatches palette, you have nothing under the options drop down or are you just missing certain pieces?

QUESTION: hi Kevin,
no, it does not drop down any window, just stay highlighted like it wants to
but goes no where. I was going to trash my preferences, but when I went to
my home folder, they are not even there?

Confused.

Answer
Hi Bluzette,

You cannot "trash" your preferences to reset the app. You have to use the keyboard shortcut I provided when you start up the app. You have to make sure you hold it down until it prompts you to reset the app. If you do not get a prompt, you hit it too late and need to restart and try again.

Thanks

Kevin
