Question
I have received a file that is approx. 10" X 4.5" all vector except the gaussian blur/dropshadow and i need to output this file to a size of 46" wide by scale but when it gets to about 36" wide it flattens the effects to a solid black drop shadow..no blur. (i know this because i tried scaling it up in 2" segments) can you please give me some insight.
thank you

Answer
Hi Mario,

The issue is that the blur effect is a rasterized effect.

There are a couple of things you should do before you output. First, go under effects>Document Effects Raster Settings and change it to at least 300 ppi (high res).

Next, Blow up your document to the actual printing size.

After that is enlarged, you may find that you have to remove and reapply the drop shadow effect. If they did this as a filter, not an effect you definitely need to do this.

That should fix it.

Thanks

Kevin
