Adobe Illustrator/Portfolio - confusion on best way to present

Question
Kevin,
Thank you for taking my question.  I am trying to put together a very well appearing architecture/art portfolio.  I have all my images and I even got to laying them out on to 11"x17" pages in Photoshop 7.  What I realized after printing was the pixelated appearence of text.  I have Illustrator 10 and I have used it sparingly but what I enjoy is laying out the page and the vector graphics for text.  I am unsure the best way to bring the images into Illustrator.  Or if I should bring the text into Photoshop?  I am unsure if I should "place" images into the Illustrator file or if I should "place" an entire .psd file into illustrator.  If I make the text in Illustrator should I just bring that back into Photoshop?  I guess you could say I am just not sure what side of the fence to leave my project.  Sorry but I do not have any other software that I am sure puts this all together like Quark or something similar.
Thank you.

Answer
Hi Paul,

You have the right idea. You would place the images into Illustrator and do all the text work in there. Since it is vector, no worries about rasterized text.

Depending on how large your psd file is you can place the entire image, without text in one shot. If it is too large, try creating the whole thing in Illustrator with placing individual pictures in one at a time.

Good luck with the portfolio!

Thanks

Kevin
