Question
Hi,

I am working on a document that was created in CS3 and I have CS2.  When I opened the document it said that an unrecognized shading type was encountered.  The file looks fine when opened, but when I make changes needed, save, and then re-open pieces are missing.

The image is supposed to look like a tire track fading into the distance, so it is a make-up of tiny little shapes changing slightly as they go on.  Sort of like a blend.

My question is that I can't seem to make this exact blend.  Do you have any suggestions on how to do this and what the issue is when I open this file in CS2.  This file needs to be vectored and in 2 Pantone colors.

Please help!! Thanks,
Shannon

Answer
Hi Shannon,

Blending and any rasterized effects do not translate clean into CS2. It could be that they ran some sort of filter (like a warp effect) after they blended in CS3 that doesn't even come in with CS2 so double check against a printout or with the original creator.

The easiest way to fix this issue, it to have the original file saved down to CS2 from CS3.

Otherwise, what you will have to do is recreate this from scratch.  First create the largest image, then duplicate and resize to the final shape and using the blend tool, click on both of the images. If the tire tracks curve, you will need to map out key points to blend between, ie. a shape at the top of the curve, blend to that, then blend to the last shape.

Thanks
