Question
When i create a document  n the size I want it to be, I will sometimes reopen the
file and it will be an astronomical size. For instance, It was creaated at 800X600
pixels and when I open it again, it is 14400 px x 14400 px. Which of course is
too big to save for web. I am using Leopard on a G5 IMac ppc

Answer
Hi Elizabeth,

A question and a quick suggestion:

Q - Do the actual Document dimensions change? This could very well have something to do with the default printer selected on your machine. Try playing around with which printer you have selected as default on your machine. I have seen that happen before... but not for years! It used to happen with me in version 9.

A quick suggestion.  Whenever bizarre stuff happens like this, try deleting the CS3 Settings folder

Some directions for that...

-Make sure Illustrator CS3 is not running

-Move the contents of the Macintosh HD > Users > username > Library > Preferences > Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folder into a new folder on your desktop

-Open Illustrator again and see if you can re-create the problem.

Now, if you have worked tirelessly on setting your workspace up just the way you like it, you can move the AIPrefs file, the Workspaces folder and the AIMenuFaceCache file back from the desktop into the CS3 Settings folder (important: quit AI again before doing this).

Let me know if any of these help...

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
