Adobe Illustrator/Insufficent Memory
Expert: Kevin Stohlmeyer - 3/18/2008
QuestionQUESTION: I have a manuscript that I have tried to make into PDF file. Everytime I try, it states Insufficent Memory, and closes Word Perfect down. . .I have tried transfering the manuscript to new pages, not really knowing what I am doing. . .and it does the same then.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you

ANSWER: Hi Judie,
Well, the easy answer would be to go out and buy more RAM, but before you do, here are some things you can try:
1. Shut down all applications other than wordperfect.
2. Create a new WP document (1 page) and type in some paragraphs. Type only, no images.
3. Try saving this as a PDF.
If this fails, and your WP gives you the same error and crashes, then you may have to run a disk repair utility to make sure you have de-fragmented your hard drive.
If this works, then you may have too large of a WP file to run the option. Try removing images, or breaking the doc into smaller sections, worst case 1-2 pages each.
If this all fails again, I am afraid you may have too little memory to run this option and may have to install more.
Thanks

QUESTION: Thanks so much, after I had written you, I went back and tried again, this time before turning to PDF I "Saved As" instead of "Saved" and it did make a PDF File.
BUT. . .I sent to myself and it is all in code. . .then I got a popup saying: Adobe Acrobat AcroRd32.exe corrupt file, run chkdsk. I ran it but the Adobe message comes up again every time I try to use the Adobe.
Now, I then decide to go uninstall the Adobe 7.0.9 and obtain a newer version. When I tried uninstalling 7.0 it would not. I went to folder and manually deleted, all but 2 items would not delete. I went to ENU tried to repair the Adobe, I also tried to uninstall from there I got a pop-up stating that I could only use on products currently installed. That led me to believe that the 7.0 is gone, but why can't it be removed from control panel, a pop-up is saying patch won't be moved?
In the meanwhile . . .before doing all of the above. . .I did download another Adobe. Now, when I try installing that, it states that the older version can't be replaced.
I am going to runmy defrag, in asnwer to your reply from my first question, and I hope you can make sense of what I am saying, here now. . .Also I get popups stating C:$Mft is corrupt and unreadable for Adobe and Integrater.exe
I really appreciate you guys helping me.
Thank you in advance,
JJK
AnswerWow Judie,
Sounds like your computer is having some serious issues. I am assuming when you are saying that you tried downloading a new Adobe, you mean Acrobat.
Try this link, its from Adobe and addresses steps to help clean up the mess. Also, Version 8 reader is the latest available, so be sure to install that.
Thanks
