Question
QUESTION: My keyboard shortcuts are either gone, changed to different one that I have
been using since illustrator version 6 or are just not working. I'm working in
CS2, and I have already deleted preferences, and restarted my computer and
it's still happening. Secondly this is  happening in InDesign and Photoshop as
well... HELP!
Thanks,
Angela

ANSWER: Hi Angela.

Are you on a Mac? This is Adobe's answer to the problem for Macs.

Solution 2: Select the standard U.S. (Roman) keyboard layout.

1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.

2. Double-click International Settings.

3. Click the Input Menu tab.

4. Deselect U.S. Extended and then select U.S.

5. Close the International dialog box.

In addition, there are a few applications that can do this: Quicken Scheduler is one of them and there may be others. Can you think of anything you may have installed recently?

QUESTION: Thank you for the instruction, but that didn't correct thr problem, would this issue have anything to do with the time change here in the us. I started having this problem on Monday after the time change. Yes I am on a MAC.

Thank for your help in this matter

Answer
Hi again,

I can't think of any reason why that might happen because of the time change, but I'm going to have to point you to other sources...

I recommend you post your question at www.adobe.com/forums

I will also continue to research this for you! I love a mystery.

I had that happen once... I can't remember the cause but I'm on a PC, so it wouldn't be the same reason.

Before you post, make sure you look at Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts and make sure everything looks normal in there. Deleting your prefs should have reset this to normal but always check the obvious.

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
