Adobe Illustrator/cont. AI problem
Expert: Kevin Stohlmeyer - 3/11/2008
QuestionQUESTION: My screen resolution is 1280x1024. By it pixilating the original I mean, when I choose to "save for web" and look at the 2 up (original and compressed vs.) both of them look grainy and pixilated. This does not happen when I "save for web" in Photoshop (I checked) and I get a fairly decent image when I export out of illustrator as a jpeg, but that's so much more limited.

ANSWER: Hi Sierra,
I agree Illustrator is not as slick as Photoshop when it comes to Save for Web, but Im not sure why your original in the save for web looks the same. I guess it really depends how complex the image is, and what effects you use. Im relieved that it is only happening in the save for web, and I would work through Photoshop anyway.
As CS4 comes down the pipe, this is something they are addressing to make it more compatible.
Thanks
Kevin

QUESTION: I guess what's really confusing to me is that I was able to do this in illustrator no problem for so long and then it just "snapped." they weren't super complex images, just buttons which i found easier to make and adjust in illustrator. basically you're saying you don't know why it's happening then? Thanks for the help you tried to give :) I appreciate your time!

AnswerWell I do have one suggestion, but Ive been trying to avoid it. It is reinstalling your Creative Suite application(s) completely. The uninstall does not remove everything and I have a feeling it is one of the supporting plug ins is glitched out.
After you uninstall, search for anything with the word illustrator or adobe and recycle them as well. Then reinstall and let me know what happens.
Sometimes the problem resource file is not removed during uninstall so the problem persists afterwards.
Thanks
