Adobe Illustrator/problem saving for web
Expert: Kevin Stohlmeyer - 3/6/2008
QuestionHi,
I am making buttons and small images for the web in illustrator cs3. everything was going fine, saving each image for web when something happened and instead of being nice grain free high quality jpgs they turned into very pixilated images, that are jagged and really awful.
i didn't change any settings, or at least i've wracked the entire program trying to figure out what i did wrong. i went into photoshopcs3 and used the save for web feature as well and everything worked beautifully. looked back to illustrator and again checked the save for web settings. even the original looks grainy and pixilated. tried new documents, tried restarting both the program and the computer, tried reinstalling it. nothing. it wasn't doing this before, please help! thank you!!!
AnswerHi Sierra,
Id tell you don't panic but it seems like its too late...
The solution is actually very easy. Two things come to mind, first you need to go to Effects>Document Raster Effects Settings and change your ppi to high quality (300).
Second, when you go to Save for Web, choose jpeg and high quality for the options. If it is set to gif or another setting with a limited color palette it will give you that issue.
That should fix your problems. Sorry you went through all the hoops.
Thanks
Kevin
