Adobe Illustrator/CS2 not recognizing some fonts in pdf file

Question
Hi - I have some artwork that was created in Adobe by my home office that I sent to a printer in order to have large printings made.  I tried opening the files in Adobe 6.0 and some of the fonts showed up as dots, but when I opened them in 8.0 - no problem - all fonts recognized.  Likewise, the printer can open the files in 8.0 and everything looks good, but when his staff tries to open them in Illustrator CS2 she gets the same dots I did in 6.0.  How do we fix this problem?  Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Heather

8.0 is compatible with CS3, not CS2. You are basically trying to open a newer file that the old software versions cannot read properly, hence the "dots" where type should be. When the home office saves out your files, you need to make sure they choose PDF 5.1 (version 6 compatible) in order to read them in older versions.

Thanks
