Adobe Illustrator/Illustrator/CS2 crashing

Question
Hi Kevin--I am a graphic designer who has been using CS2 for a couple of years now, and I have had this problem once before.  Basically, when I start up Illustrator, it will crash during the installing plug-ins phase.  This has just started happening a few days ago; additionally, Photoshop will crash when opening pdf files or when trying to save as pdf.  Last time this happened, I had to reinstall CS2; however, I no longer have the discs (or rather, they are in deep storage and currently inaccessible).  Is there any way to fix this bug?  Anything I can do manually?

Thanks,
-todd

Answer
Hi Todd,

You can try restoring the apps to their factory settings. As soon as you click the icon to startup, hold down (MAC) shift+ctrl+opt+apple or (PC) shift+ctrl+alt+cmd and it will prompt you to reset the preferences.

Otherwise, you can try removing plug-ins from your application folders.

Let me know if either of these do not work and I can try and dig deeper.

Thanks

Kevin
