Subject: PDF in Illustrator
Question I created a pdf from autocad dwg of downtown streets/buildings & "colored" it in for a marketing tool. The pdf causes all sorts of problems - mainly using up all of the RAM & necessitating a reboot. Any way to fix pdf? It embeds instead of links even when link is checked..grrr
Answer Hi Celia,
When you create a pdf, it has to embed everything instead of linking due to the inherit nature of a pdf. This way you can share with everyone and not rely on larger files.
If you are running out of RAM and locking up, you may need to 1. reduce your file size, 2. make sure nothing else is running, or 3. buy more RAM.
I would also try running this with the pdf set to smallest file size and see if you still need to reboot. If you do, your file must be very very large.
Thanks
Kevin
