Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop to Illustrator

Question
Hi. I have no problem importing a graphic from illustrator to photoshop as a transparent image with no background, but when I try to do the same with a graphic in photoshop and import it into illustrator, the graphic always has a white background once I put it on the artboard in illustrator. How can I get a graphic in photoshop to appear in illustrator without a background?

Thanks for your help,
Chris.

Answer
Hi Chris,

You need to make sure that the image is on a transparent layer with nothing else beneath it. If there is a background layer, but it is hidden, it will still show up. Be sure to place this into Illustrator as a .psd document as well. The other option to ensure that you have no background is to embed a clipping path in your .psd document. I know earlier versions of Illustrator did not work well with transp. from PS., but not knowing what version you are on that is all I can suggest.

Thanks

Kevin
