Subject: Printing white box on white paper?

Question
Kevin, I'm stumped!  I bought some print paper that has some text preprinted on it with a design. The text is black on a white background. What I want to do is place a white box in my illustrator document exactly where some of the text is preprinted on the paper. So basically I want to overlay a white box over the preprinted text on this paper and have my "new text" show up (that I'd type over the white box), but I need the illustrator doc. and printer to be able to recognize and print my white box. Do you know how to do this?

Answer
Hi Nick,

Im assuming you are asking before you try this. All you have to do is print. What you are creating is a knockout. As long as the white box is visible in your doc, it will print what you see.

One thing you need to make sure is that you plan for the offset of your printer. Most printers require 1/8 offset. Test print your art on a piece of blank paper and match against your preprinted to determine your offset.

Thanks

Kevin
