Question I have already 2 giga memory on board, but still fail to export a large ai file(144"x 48" with 150 dpi) to jpg. It seems the cs3 ai program(winxp version) failed to use the extra memory, though it claimed that the cs3 could utilize the memory automatically when need.
Please enlighten me if there any alternative to export large size ai file to jpg.
Answer HI Anthony,
You are creating an enormously large file. I've never exported this large of a file so Im not sure how much memory you will need, but exporting a 2 ft. x 3 ft. file requires almost a gig of dedicated memory. CS3 will automatically allocate the memory, if available. I'm guessing you do not have enough available.
If you do not need the file this large, I would downsize the .ai file first. If you do need the file to stay 12 ft. x 4 ft. I would use the save for web command to downsize the jpg resolution and up the compression rate. This may or may not help.
The larger issue (no pun intended) is that your file is enormous. If you are using this for a large format print, such as a banner, etc. check with your printer to see if they can take an .eps file or .pdf instead.
