I have a logo that I wish to downsize on a letter head. I do not have access to the file. I have Adobe 8.1.2 but it will not open it. If I need a different program, will it cost something? If yes, how much? Thank you for your help in advance.

Hi Carole,

If you mean that you have Illustrator 8, which is almost 10 years out of date, then you are definitely in line for new software. And no, new software does not come free - Adobe products can range from $399 to $2500 depending on what you are looking to purchase.

As for your problem, you would use Photoshop to open a jpg file, not Illustrator. But if your software is this old across the board, you will definitely need to upgrade or find someone who can help you with newer software. It sounds like you don't need to use this very often so investing that much money may not be your best option. If you do decide to upgrade, be sure that your computer meets at least the minimum requirements for the applications.
