Adobe Illustrator/CS2 Illustrator (Mac 10.4.11) Cannot select or move imported TIFF unless clicking on the border.

Question
I'm researching this problem for a customer who is having several issues with her CS2 suite. Firstly, as the subject stated, you cannot click and drag an imported TIFF to move it, you can only do so by clicking on the very edge, the inside does nothing, not even select or deselect. This project behaves normally on a PC version of CS2. Also, sometimes the blue selection underlines in text stop appearing and sometimes you also cannot edit the text at all (with the text tool).

We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Sean,

This has nothing to do with the application install. If you go to your Illustrator Preferences, there is an option selected (I suspect). Under your general preferences make sure that "Object selection by path only" is NOT checked. That is an awful option that only allows you to grab objects by the paths or placed images by the edges.

Thanks

Kevin
