Adobe Illustrator/Outline box appears on all logos

Question
Hi Kevin,

Whenever I export or print transparent logos (which are against a coloured background) from Illustrator CS2 they always have a slightly different shade of the background colour - like a box - around them. Do you know how I can stop this from happening?

Thanking you in anticipation!

Answer
Hi Sarah,

This is a known flaw with CS2 dealing with transparency. There really is not too much you can do to fix this. It happens with transparent images and effects or filters running. Try taking it into InDesign and see how that prints, as ID has a better postscript engine built in.

The only other option is to fake the transparency. Fill your object with a lighter version of the background color instead of white with 50% opacity (for example).

Thanks

Kevin
