Adobe Illustrator/Remove linked image?

Question
I have some Illustrator CS files that have links to image files that are no longer included in the Illustrator file. This causes Illustrator to pause and hang, looking for the files and slows production, as you can well imagine. I cannot find a way to delete those links. How do I do that?

Hi Melinda,
Once the file opens, find the empty boxes for the images and delete those images. If you cant find them, cause they are invisible at times go to view>outline mode and find them there. They will have an "x" inside the box.
