Question
Hi,
I am currently wanting to place my ai files from CS2/3 into microsoft word. I am using a Mac to do this work. The ai files mainly contain graphs. I have tried saving the files as eps, bitmap, jpg, gif and tif and when i import them into microsoft word the quality is really crap. How should i save the ai files so that when i import them into microsoft word the quality is the same as they are if printed from the original ai file?

Thanks

Helen

Answer
Hi Helen,

When you save out as an eps the quality should be exact since it is a vector object. Have you tried printing to see if it is just MS Word previewing them lo-res?

If you do need to export out as a jpg or bitmap, be sure to go to Effects>Document Raster Effects Settings and change it to hi-res (300 ppi) before you export. Otherwise, it automatically saves them at 72 ppi. (You can also change this in CS3 under Document Setup or New Document).

Im thinking that it is just MS Word Previewing them lo-resolution when you import them.

Thanks
