Adobe Illustrator/problem with fill

Question
QUESTION: I am using Adobe Illustrator CS.
I am trying to fill the T-shirt sketch I drew using Illustrator with pattern swatch.
Instead of filling inside of object, pattern or color appears around the line. You can look at the image I am having problem with at the address below.

Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong?

ANSWER: Hi Junf-Eun,

Your image is a series on unconnected paths. You will need to connect them into one solid object to fill them.

Thanks

QUESTION: Thank you for your fast response.
However, I still have a problem with connecting paths. Is there any way I could fix it? Or do I need to redraw from the scratch?

Answer
Hi Junf-Eun,

You can select the two ends that you need to select with the direct select tool (white arrow) and then go to Object>paths>join to connect, or you can use the pen tool to connect the two ends together. Look for the pen tool icon with the diagonal line to connect to the first line and the same icon to connect to the second. When you get to the last point, you should have a pen icon with a circle to close up the shape.

Thanks

Kevin
