Adobe Illustrator/Low Res PDF

Question
This is kind of SOS.

I need to create a low resolution PDF from an Illustrator file which is 300MB in size. I even tried doing it through Acrobat Distiller, but still PDF is around 10MB in size. I want to reduce even more, at least to 5MB Maximum.

Is there any way I can do that from such  heavy file size?

Thanks in advance!!

Answer
Hi Sophiya,

Have you tried using the save as feature in AI to save as a pdf? In the PDF options box, try using the preset "Smallest File Size" and see how small it gets. Distiller really doesn't get the job done properly compared to the native PDF engine in AI.

Im curious as to why this is so large though. Is this a huge file in size (2ft x ???) or do you have a lot of placed graphics in this file?

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that by the time you do get this down to 5 mb, if at all possible, you will have a very poor, unrecognizable file. My first thought would be to reduce the size of the original file. 300 mb seems to be a bit overwhelming for AI.

Thanks

Kevin
