Adobe Illustrator/mixed spot & process colors in lineart

Question
Hi, Kevin. I would appreciate your instruction on this problem which was
flagged by FreeFlight (free file checker software). I made a swatch of 85%
black by entering the 85 next to the K box in the color picker. I named it "85
black". In the swatch mode, there are both spot & process icons next to the
color. In AI C2S. In the QXP doc, I'm using process black for the black color. is
that okay?

Many  thanks, R-

Answer
Hi Rebecca,

Somehow this ended up in the general box, and not mine so sorry for the delay.

It is not ok to have both spot blacks and process colors when you print. What is going to happen is you will get 2 runs of black, one in the process and one in your spot. You should convert your spot colors to process if you intend to print this commercially. If you just plan to print this digitally, it wont matter.

Thanks

Kevin
