Question
Hi Kevin,

I'm still fairly new to Illustrator, and can't work out how to fill an object created from line segments. Any help appreciated,
Thanks
Lisa

Answer
Hi Lisa,

When you use the pen tool (do not use the line tool) you will have to make sure you have connected lines. I have a lot of new users try to use the line tool or pen tool to create unconnected lines that will not fill in.

Once you have a connected shape, use the swatches palette to select a Fill color (the solid square shape) and a Stroke color (the outlined box shape).

That should get you started! As a new user, I would highly recommend purchasing one of the Adobe Classroom in a Book guides for Illustrator. It is a great learning tool with lessons and CD.

Thanks

Kevin
