Adobe Illustrator/exporting ai to jpg // big file

Question
Hi,

I made a one color logo in ai and when i export it to jpg on high quality i get a 700kb file. When i decrease the size or/and the export quality i get a 680kb file but for a very small and poor quality logo. What do i do wrong. A jpg this size and quality should only be like 3 kb. I need a small size jpg to add it to my mail signature. Adding a 700kb logo to a mail signature generates too much traffic.

thank you in advance!

Answer
Hi Milan,

Are you using the "save for web" command instead of the export? Save for web optimizes your jpg settings down to 72 dpi instead of a high quality 300 dpi export. If you have larger artwork, save for web also allows you to downsize in that menu before saving.

Use that function whenever you are saving for e-mail, etc.

Thanks

Kevin
