Adobe Illustrator/embed pictures

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I work with cs2, and I would like to know if there's a way, once I embed a picture, of undoing the embedding without having to relink the picture. Thanks so much

ANSWER: Sisi,
Once you embed an image and save and close the file there is no way to "undo" the embedding other than re-linking. If you have not saved and closed the file you could always "undo" from the edit menu or revert to saved if your last save contained the linked version of the image - but I have the feeling you already know this.
I feel there may be more to this question - since re-linking one or just a few images is not such a monumental task that I would wish to avoid it. If you could fill me in on what has happened or is happening I may be able to provide you with some other alternatives.

Good Luck

QUESTION: Hi Nick. Thank you for your time. I design different products for restaurants, where lot of pictures are always involved. Sometimes, when I place the pictures on Illustrator CS2, the pictures are already embeded. That doesn't help me, because I keep making changes on them. I want to be able to embed them when my file is ready for printing. How can I choose not to have the pictures embeded when I place them? Thanks again.

Answer
Sisi,
To choose not to have images embedded when they are placed:
Go to File Menu and drag/release on Place...
In the Place dialog box, check the box next to the Link option and make sure that the Link option remains checked when you select the image file you are placing.

Good Luck
