Question
I have an Intel Celeron processor. What is the lastest upgrade of Illustrator that this processor will handle?

Answer
Hi Carol,

If I had to guess, I'd say CS2 but it might crawl or you could experience other performance issues. If you read some posts on Adobe.com forums, you will see that some people do blame poor performance on the slow speeds of the Celeron processor. Adobe never mentions Celeron specifically for Illustrator requirements.

Here are the req's:

Illustrator CS3:
   * Intel Pentium 4 or 5, Centrino or equivalent processor
   * Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or later
   * 512 MB of RAM (1 GB recommended)
   * 2 GB of available hard-disk space
   * 1024x768 color monitor
   * 16-bit video card (24-bit screen display recommended)
   * DVD-ROM drive
   * For PostScript printing: Adobe PS Level 2 or PS 3 printers

Illustrator CS2:
   * Intel Pentium III or Pentium 4 processor
   * Microsoft Windows XP SP1 or 2
   * 256 MB of RAM (512 MB recommended)
   * 820 MB of available hard-disk space
   * 1024x768 color monitor
   * 16-bit video card (24-bit screen display recommended
   * CD-ROM drive
   * For PostScript printing: Adobe PS Level 2 or PS 3 printers

Illustrator CS:
-- Intel Pentium III or Pentium 4 processor
-- Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3
-- 192 MB of RAM* (256 MB recommended)
-- 470 MB of available hard-disk space
-- CD-ROM drive
-- For PostScript printing: Adobe PS Level 2 or PS 3 printers

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

Experience

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
