Adobe Illustrator/Can't start Illustrator

Question
Amy,
I have had the entire Adobe Suite CS2 on my computer for a year now and I
recently tried to install Final Cut Pro (unfortunately I didn't have enough
memory) and I attempted to uninstall Final Cut and after I did my Illustrator
suddenly didn't open. It would go through the motions like it's going to start
but then it just quits. I am running it on Mac OSX Tiger.  How do I fix this
problem?

Answer
Hi April,

Try deleting your AIprefs file.

1 - Quit Illustrator
2 - Locate the file called AIPrefs on your Mac and delete it
3 - Restart Illustrator

If that doesn't work, make sure you have completely uninstalled Final Cut. I don't have that program but here's a link to a post in a forum where they discuss how to properly remove it.

Let me know if that works.
Amy

PS> What's the last thing on the screen before it quits?

Adobe Illustrator

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

Experience

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
