Question
when i insert jpgs into my .ai file, i find that it looks more or less okay when at full size (say 2592 x 1944). but, if i shrink the image in illustrator (by dragging a corner), it gets extremely highly pixelated. i've tried this same procedure in microsoft word, PDF'd it, and had no issues. help! :)

Answer
Hi Mike,

You should be resizing your jpgs in Photoshop. Illustrator is a vector program and is not mean to render raster images. It does not have the same resampling capabilities as Photoshop so it is degrading your photo when you resize.

Thanks
