Adobe Illustrator/resizing an image in AI

Question
Kevin, I have a logo file (EPS) and the image is rectangular - that is... wider than it is tall.  I wanted to use this is Google maps but it only allows for a square image and crops anything outside the square.

When I open the EPS file in AI (I have Adobe CS4), it faitfully shows the image in its rectangular form.  Question is... how do I make it square without changing the actual image (artwork).  It seem to me that if I could make the 'page' taller (to match width) it would work although there would be additional white space above & below the artwork.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Don,

Thats how I would handle it, change your artboard size to be square (using the artboard tool) and then add a white or other filled square placed behind your original art.

Then just export this out to whatever format you need for Google maps.

Thanks

Kevin
