Hi,  I am a brand new user of Illustrator and am trying to teach myself.  I have created an image and got it how I want and save it as either an eps or svg.  But when I import it into my vinyl cutter software the file size is way off in the distance and I can't find it.  How do I limit the size of the image to be just the image and no white space?  Thank you.

Not sure what you want exactly, but try this:
Open a new document and set the size as the size you want (you may have to change the rulers from pixels to cm or mm or inches)
Open the file you have created and select all (Ctrl A - make sure all the layers and objects are unlocked) then copy what you have selected (Ctrl C)
Go back to your New Document and paste in what you just copied (Ctrl V)
Resize the pasted objects to fit your artboard.
Save the new document and try sending that to your vinyl cutter.
