Adobe Illustrator/how to color seperate in illustrator
Expert: Richard - 12/27/2009
QuestionHello and Happy Holidays, I am a Designer who is trying to get his images ready for t-shirt pressing. I was wondering if I had to color separate in illustrator before I sent them off to the printing company or if I could just vectorize the images and that would be enough. If I do need to, how would I go about doing the color separation after I have vectorize the whole image in illustrator.? Thank You for your time.
AnswerSimple answer:
Ask your printer.
Most people do a lot of unnecessary work by getting files ready for print without knowing exactly what the printer wants.
They will tell you exactly how they want the files supplied.
Complicated answer:
If it is screen printing you would have to do perhaps a separate layer/colour/group of objects for each colour/screen. If it is a heat transfer you should be fine just supplying the file compleate as it all goes on in one print.
Sorry not sure what you mean by 'vectorize the images' If you create an image in Illustrator it should already be a vector.
