Question
illustrator gives me a message about a start up disk being full, where is this si==disk  at and how do you clean it out

Answer
Uneta,

This depends on the operating system (Mac OS X or Windows).
I can only give you some general advice but my first advice would be to ask an expert for your operating system.

With that said:

Launch Illustrator and open preferences. In the Plug-Ins and Scratch Disk preference tab select a different primary scratch disk if there is another partition available. Then  quit and relaunch Illustrator.

If there are no other partitions available and you are on a Mac OS machine start by deleting files and applications that you do not use.
If you are not sure what files or applications that can safely be deleted please ask a relative, friend or co-worker for help. Invite them over for coffee, donuts or cake to keep them in a patient mood while they help. Usually there will be at least 100 megs of extras that can immediatly be removed. Data files can be burned to cd's or DVD's before deleting.

But please be careful. You don't want delete any files from your si==disk that will prevent your computer from starting up or prevent any other applications from operating correctly.

Good Luck
