Adobe Illustrator/Thai with Illustrator
Expert: Amy - 2/17/2009
QuestionI have read previous requests for help with this problem but none of the answers have helped. My question is simply, is it possible AT ALL to type Thai in Illustrator CS3 v13? I have all the Thai fonts on my computer which can be used in Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Word, Outlook Express, etc. The only program that it does not work in is Illustrator. Please, PLEASE, help.
AnswerHi John,
I do not believe that Illustrator supports Thai language.
But I don't work for or represent Adobe in any way, so that is only my guess. Information on the topic is difficult to find.
As far as I know, it works sporadically and depends on the type of Thai fonts you have installed. For example, Adobe provides a default Chinese font (Ming Liu) but other Chinese fonts do not work. I found a person on a Thai website that states "installing Thai fonts with the DSN, DB or JAS prefixes" is the answer.
You didn't mention if you were PC or Mac, either. Of course, if you use Windows, Illustrator supports the Windows IME Asian languages only if you turn them on.
I hope this helps a little bit?
