is there any free software for editing adobe pdf? thanks for the help

I haven't looked into this in a long time, and I am not listed in AllExperts as an Acrobat expert, but I doubt it.

While there are a lot of inexpensive converters, anyone who writes software to edit the contents of PDFs charges $$$ for it.

If you only need it for one or two documents, you could probably download a functional demo of one of them.

I think CutePDF is one that has a free try first demo:

It's only $50 - maybe it will do what you need.

I don't know the extent of its editing capabilities. I doubt there are any free/cheap apps that can do everything that Acrobat professional can do.
