Adobe Illustrator/Effect>Warp>Arc Lower

Question
Hi. I had to start over with my query as I used to many follow-up ?s. I hope I'm not being too big of a pain...

I went to effect>warp>arc lower and slid the slider to -50, but that makes the type flip into an upsidedown upward-shaped arch above the tops of the original letters. (Is there any way to send you a screen shot to show you what's happening and what I need to have happen?) I need this line of type (only 4 words) to stay right-reading with the tops of the letters square and normal looking, but then the bottoms of the letters will stretch down to different lengths so that they form an arch in the negative space. The resultant positive shape should look like the bottom half of a bow tie or a side view of a bridge.

I hope I haven't tried your patience too much. I really appreciate your fast replies.

Answer
Marianne,

If -50 goes too far and flips the letters, try going to a lower negative number, like -10 and preview what it does. You do need to experiment a little on your own, I cannot tell you exactly how it will react with your words, since I do not know the size, font, etc. and specifics of you file. I only used -50 as an example.

Thanks
