Question
I am about to take a course to learn adobe illustrator. Should I learn it on an apple computer or is it the same to learn it on a pc.  I have a pc but I will be working with a friend that has an apple and I will be sharing files wih her. Is it going to be a problem working with her having to different computer platforms or is it a lot better if I get an apple computer too?

Thank you very much,

Y. S. Matheu

Answer
Hello Yon,

Once you are in the program everything operates the same. Same tools, features, etc... The fundamental difference is with short cut key commands.

As for whether to get a Mac or not, that's a subject that is not as much of an issue as it was years ago. My personal recommendation is a Mac (very user friendly). Much of the graphic arts industry is Mac based. If your only concern is sharing files with your friend, PC or Mac will not make a difference.

I hope this helped.

Thank you,

Tom

I can answer Graphics questions related to Adobe Illustrator 9, 10, and CS. I also have Photoshop experience. Setting up files for printing is my main area of expertise. I am familiar with both PC and Mac platforms. No question is too silly. The only thing silly is a question not asked!
