Question
hey Tom.. I'm trying to make a clipping mask using block text, and a vector image of paint splatter.  i want the paint splatter inside the text, so i have made the splatter the bottom layer, and the text the top later.  however, when i go to create the mask, all of the paths become white, leaving me images invisible, unless you click on them to show that they're selected.  do you have any ideas?  thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Joseph,

Try this change the fill in the type to white. Make sure the text is in outlines. Next make a box (no stroke/no fill) to cover the text and the area you want. Then only select the text and the box then go to Object>Compound Path>Make.

I think that's what you're looking to do. If not please let me know and I'll suggest something else.

Thank you,

Tom
