Adobe Illustrator/AI to PDF Output Error

Question
QUESTION: Okay.. Here goes...  I'm trying to save my Illustrator CS2 file to a .pdf.  I'm
running into a problem I've never had before.  It won't save any of my images
to the .pdf.  They look like they are clipped as I can see the paths in the pdf,
just not the actual image.  I've tried everything I can think of and this is
probably something really simple that I'm just missing.  If someone knows
what the problem could be, please feel free to email me.  Thanks!

ANSWER: Hi Dana,

Be sure to use the presets in the PDF dialog box, your own settings is the first thing I can think of. Are the missing images placed files or raster graphics or are these vector objects?

Let me know

Thanks

Kevin

QUESTION: Thanks for responding so quickly.  Vectors all .pdf fine. However clipped .eps, gifs and jpgs will not show up.  I've played with the settings, but I just can't figure it out.  It was working fine and then just started doing this yesterday.

ANSWER: Hi Dana,

Try embedding your images in the Illustrator file. They may be linked and not transferring to the PDF.

Thanks

Kevin

QUESTION: I've relinked the files and they still don't show up in the .pdf.  I just tried embedding them and it still doesn't work.  All I can think is it's something in the print settings.  I have no idea what though. Thanks.

Answer
HI Dana,

The last two suggestions I have are to double check the layer settings that the images are on, making sure that they are set to print and are not a template layer, etc.

Then to use the preset when saving as a PDF. Use the file save as command and do not save this out via printing to a PDF printer. Choose High Quality Print when saving as the PDF Preset and see what happens.

Thanks

Kevin
