Adobe Illustrator/Displaying bleed lines

Question
Hi,

I am trying to include bleed lines in the .pdf form I am creating. I designed
the documents in Adobe Illustrator CS3 and indicated bleeds; but, when I
upload them to acrobat to create the .pdf, the bleed lines are eliminated.

Please help me....
Thank you,

Summer

Answer
Hi Summer.

If you are PRINTING to a PDF using the AdobePDF driver:
The page size (paper size) of the PDF has to be oversized to include the objects that bleed. So choose a larger paper or create a custom size. Then indicate actual trim size manually with crop marks.

OR

If you are SAVING as a PDF.

Choose Save As and choose PDF.

Then when the PDF dialog appears, look at the left menu and click "Marks and Bleeds." Indicate the size of your bleeds here, usually something like .125

Let me know if this helps you!

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
