Adobe Illustrator/Linking images problem

Question
QUESTION: Amy
i have a problem that i can't figure out, when i link images to my file and save it the file size is huge. I thought that the advantage of linking was to keep the file size low...

i am linking around 5-6 (very high res) EPS images to a file but the file size is coming out over 150mb.

What can i do to keep the file size small because at this size, half the time the file will no open or resave.

appreciate any help / advice that you can give here.

Answer
First, make sure that the files are linked, not embedded.

Try saving as and NOT checking the PDF compatible option. Let me know what happens.

Even with linked files, you will have large files. Yes, I think Illustrator has a serious bloat problem.
