Question
Hi Amy,
I'm new of AI and have been scouring internet tutorials and my manual to learn how to use this program. I felt comfortable enough to create a logo, but I'm having trouble. I found this post of yours:

I did everything per your instructions, but when I place in image into Indesign it's completely pixelated and low-res. I tried everything in your post and it actually ended up looking worse than when I just saved it as a tiff or an eps file. When I changed the InDesign setting to view at high-res rather than typical, it looks better, but still looks a little off. Since I'm so inexperienced with this, I'm just wanting to be sure it will be okay when it actually goes to the print.
I'm using CS3 for everything, an a Mac OSX 10.5.6.
Thanks for any help you can give me. I've been so frustrated for several days trying to figure out what I did wrong...
AnswerHi... what format are you saving the logo as?
You can save as a CMYK EPS or AI - either will work for your logo... which doesn't look like it's too complicated.
InDesign will build a preview of any EPS or vector graphic that you place... and, yes, it will look fuzzy. Even the full res previews look "off" as you put it. TIFFs will actually look better on the screen.
If you want to do a test, do a File > Export > Then Choose PDF... then in the menu at the left of the PDF Dialog, select compression and turn off all the downsampling and compression. Then complete the save.
When you open the PDF you've made, I suspect you will see a crisp clean logo (if you are placing a vector file.
-Let me know!
