Adobe Illustrator/document setup
Expert: Tom Rouze - 4/5/2009
QuestionHi,
I have in the past worked with illustrator and forgotten how to do something I know is possible. I want to save an illustrator file as a pdf and have it show as several a4's. What I do is go to document setup go to A4 in cm's and then type behind width *2 which will make a document exactly 2 a4's wide. In the past it would also show in my illustrator document as 2 A4's with a line between. There is now just one big blank document without line indicating were one a4 stops and the next starts. When you save to pdf it also shows one big document in stead of 2 or more seperate ones. Please help me.
Thanks in advance
Regards Merel
AnswerHi Merel,
I came across these instructions. This was found and posted by Expert Amy. I hope this helps.
Here's how to create a multiple page document, copied from Illy help. The end result is a PDF file in this case but it doesn't have to be.
To create a multiple-page Adobe PDF file.
Choose File > Print, and set the media size to the size you want the PDF pages to be.
Select Setup on the left side of the Print dialog box. Set the following options, and click Done:
For Crop Artwork To, select Artboard.
For Tiling, select Tile Full Pages or Tile Imageable Areas.
Set up the artboard so that it is big enough to display all pages, and choose View > Show Page Tiling. (See About page tiling.)
Lay out the artwork for each page within the page tiling boundaries on the artboard.
Save the file in Adobe PDF format. (See To create an Adobe PDF file.)
In the Save Adobe PDF dialog box, select Save Multi-Page PDF From Page Tiles.
Set additional PDF options, and click Save PDF.
Thank you,
Tom
