Adobe Illustrator/AI - placing image

Question
I am an AI beginner using CS2.  I use AI primarily to place logos into a premade AI template.  Recently, when I "place" a new vector logo into the template, the logo becomes rasterized.  Is there some setting that is causing this?

Answer
Hi Ellen,

Is the logo also appearing with an X drawn through it?
You might be placing your images as LINKED versus EMBEDDED.

If the format is AI or EPS or PDF and you know that it is truly vector, just do a File > Place  and make sure the LINK option is not checked when you select your file in the place dialog window.

Please follow up with me and let me know if this was the problem, okay?

Thanks
Amy

Expertise

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
