Question
QUESTION: Hi
I need to apply some dropshadow on to some letters.
To keep it in vector, i havn't used either the >filter< or the >effect< drop shadow. I used; offset path>white offset> make bled... that should keep it vectorised.
But as you can see the letter "s" isnt as good as the other letters.
What to do (other drop shadow effect?) The rest of the letters are ok, i only have a problem with the "s"
Hope you can help - thank you
Kind Regards
Palle
ANSWER: Hi Palle,
None of the effects or filters are vector. These are always going to be raster images. To use this effect, do not use the offset path option. Use Effects>Stylize>Drop Shadow and adjust your shadow to fit. Then go to Effects>Document Raster Effects Settings to whatever quality you need. (Filters do not change once applied which could be the reason for the poor quality).
Thanks

QUESTION: Hi Kevin
Thanks a lot for the quick respons:-)
I will use the Effects>Stylize>Drop Shadow then.
When I hand over the logo (eps) in one size - wil the dropshadow be
vectorized or in raster. (if my client decides to blow up the eps-file to big
scale, will the dropshadow scale along?) That my only concern now :-)
Thanks in advance
kind regards/Palle
AnswerHi Palle,
As long as you keep the Drop Shadow as an effect, and the client has "Scale Strokes and Effects" option turned on in the preferences then all will be right and good with the world. If this is going to be blown up huge (bus size) then perhaps a higher DPI is warranted in the Doc. Rast. Effects settings. It will always be raster, never vector so resolution is key for this.
Thanks
