Question
I have a old PDF document that I want to edit,is that possible w/o a special application. I also have a recent WORD file of the same document (but current)that needs editing, however I want the view of two pages to fit on one standard page in a landscape view as it is in the old PDF? Can I achieve this in word and then convert or can I just go in a make the necessary changes in the old PDF version of the file? Can you help.

Answer
Hi Charisa,

You can edit PDFs in Illustrator, although if the fonts were embedded you might have to re-set them if you don't have that particular font.

However, you can only edit the view of the PDF document to make two pages show up at once if you have Acrobat Professional (or the full version of Acrobat).

You can fake it, though, in Illustrator if you have it, by creating a single 11 x 17 horizontal page and laying out your two letter-sized pages on it.

I suppose you could also do this in Word, too, although I have not tried it.

Does this help?

I can help troubleshoot your Illustrator 9 through CS3 (and most CS4) problems and suggest the best way to get the results you need. Although I can help with some installation issues, my forte is prepress and how to use the tools and functions in the application itself.

I've been a graphic artist for over 20 years. Oh my God, 20 years.
