Adobe Illustrator/Photos lose resolution when placed in Illustrator

Question
Our art person is making a poster for me, and when she imports photos and other jpegs into Illustrator the resolution goes way down. In other words, I can print a photo with excellent resolution at 11x17. However, when that photo is placed in my poster, and blown up to 11x17 (or smaller) it is very fuzzy and not usable. How can I correct this situation? Idon't know what version of Illustrator that she is using, but I think it is recent.

Thank you.

Fred

Answer
Hi Fred,

The size of the photos are not as important as the resolution. First, make sure that the original files are set to the proper res in PS. Then when you bring them into Illustrator, go to Effects>Document Effects Raster Settings and change the resolution in there too.

Thanks
