Adobe Illustrator - Size issue with illustrator

Expert: Amy - 6/9/2009

Question
Hi,
I created a logo for a website and I found out that it was too big.  The actual
space that it needs to go in is 504 x 130. How can I change this without
changing the resolution?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Kacy,

In File > Document Setup, change the size of the document's artboard to 1008 px x 260 px, then resize the artwork to fit perfectly on the newly sized artboard. Then use Save for Web & Devices to generate the jpeg or gif you need. After choosing Save for Web & Devices, click on the Image Size tab. Change the Image Size Percent to 50% and check the Clip to Artboard checkbox and hit Apply. Change the colors/compression to whatever you require for your image. Then Save. Should be perfect.

Good luck!
Amy
