QUESTION: Illustrator CS3 will save eps files with no issue.  But when I try to save as ai files it says "an unknown error has occured" and won't let me.  I used to be able to.  How can I fix this?

ANSWER: Hi Debbie,

The only thing I can think of besides your app being corrupted is to make sure in your AI options dialogue box that you have "PDF Compatible file" checked.

QUESTION: Just wanted to give an update.  I tried your suggestion but unfortunately it didn't work.  I installed updates I was missing and I tried to reinstall the software over my existing software.  I ended up having to uninstall and install the software.  Now it works.

Sorry the suggestion didnt work. Unfortunately with this service our advice is only as good as the information and follow ups we receive. Its very odd that you had to completely reinstall AI in order for this to work. Im glad it all worked out though.
